Shopping for Supplies, or How Shu came to be

One thing I’m seeing a lot lately in weddings is the addition of stuffed toys in the flower girl’s basket. At times, some couples even skip the basket and just give the flower girls stuffed animals with flowers on them.

After carrying their basket of flowers around, the little girls are rewarded with a stuffed animal they can keep for themselves. I’m sure the little girls love them. I know I would. So, off we went to shop for a stuffed animal for our flower girl, Astrud.

Even before we began to shop, we knew one thing. No teddy bears or Hello Kitties for us. It had to be a black and white spotted cow. After scouring a lot of stores, we finally stumbled on one by WebKinz. We agreed that she was cute, so we grabbed her so we could tick off another item on our to-do list.

On the way to the counter though, the little stuffed cow started staring at me. She said she was happy to be coming home with us, and was looking forward to making friends with the other cows in my collection. She wanted to stay for good.

John saw what was happening. He knows me too well. So off we went, back to the shelf, grabbed another one and brought both to the counter. One for Astrud’s basket, the other for me.

No, I didn’t even dare to look at Cow #2.
